With a fine balance between exciting arrangements and fiery solos, the Redtenbacher’s Funkestra never fails to entertain their audience with their feel-good, high-energy and original hybrid of Funk, Soul and Jazz, interjected with a good dose of humor and fun.

A characteristic and popular trademark of the band is their obvious enjoyment of on-stage performing and Stefan Redtenbacher’s banter, where he delights the crowd with amusing tales of the inner workings of the band and stories about the conception of their tunes.

Established in 2005, this multinational band is the creative brainchild of bassist and bandleader Stefan Redtenbacher who is currently mixing the material for their fifth album ‘The Cooker’ which is due later this year.

Alongside the core sextet, featuring Jim Hunt on tenor saxophone and Sid Gauld on trumpet, their records additionaly feature Funk legends like trombonist Fred Wesley (James Brown, Parliament), baritone saxophonist Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka, trumpeter Lee Thornburg, tenor sax player Lenny Pickett (Tower of Power), guitarists Elliott Randall (Steely Dan) and Eric Krasno (Soulive/Lettuce) as well as the finest horn sections from the vibrant London Jazz Funk scene (Incognito, Brand New Heavies) and Michael B. Nelson’s ‘Hornheads’ (Prince).

For special occasions and festival gigs the band performs as ‘Redtenbacher’s Funkestra Mini Big Band’ plus a featured vocalist. This 10 piece line up with a 5 piece horn section is known to exude some serious energy that causes walls to shake and people to sweat and dance!

Formerly a solicitor, Keith has performed as a stand-up all over the world, from the Boston International Comedy Festival to Hong Kong to the Middle East. He has appeared on television on Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1) as well as One Night Stand(BBC) and Liffey Laughs (RTE).

He has been a regular guest on radio, both in Ireland and the UK, on BBC, RTE, Talksport, Today FM, Newstalk and all sorts of other warm and welcoming studios. He has written and performed his own comedy, The Insomniac Club for BBCNI. He also wrote for RTE’s That’s all we have time for.

All his Edinburgh shows are still touring. Cruel and Unusual, his first, is a comedy show against the death penalty in America, and garnered much attention from media and punters alike at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His second Edinburgh show, No Blacks. No Jews. No Dogs. No Irish. All Welcome was a show about the dangerous rise of racism and his third Edinburgh Show, Sex Traffic, addressed women’s rights.

A regular at prestigious comedy venues in Ireland and the UK, Keith has performed at a variety of award ceremonies, corporate events, colleges and maybe even a wedding, but he’ll never admit that.

‘If Eddie Izzard had been Irish, he’d surely have turned out a lot like Keith Farnan’ – The Scotman

‘Brilliant, thought-provoking and laugh out loud funny’ – Time Out

‘This guy is going to be big’ – The Stage

Everything Geoff Norcott does is under-pinned by enthusiasm, optimism and a sharp comic mind.

Whether it be on the comedy circuit, where Geoff’s abundance of energy combined with a storming mix of observations, impressions and satire has made him a hugely popular act both in the UK and abroad.

Or on television, where Geoff recently went from co-presenter to become the main anchor on the WKD Shed Sports Show – his sharp one-liners becoming a popular feature of the nightly debates.
Geoff has also recently filmed a comedy drama pilot for the BBC, and was a key part of the ‘SPOOF’ impressions show line-up on BBC1 last year.

Geoff also takes the afore mentioned qualities into his growing number of radio appearances, including frequent guest spots on Talksport’s ‘Hawksby & Jacobs Show’, where he endeavours to see the funny side of cricket.
As a former teacher, Geoff is a refreshing and humorous commentator on any issues related to education.

Geoff is also emerging as a vibrant writer, having written for ‘Parsons & Naylor’ on BBC radio, MTV, and been a commissioned writer for Nuts TV.

“Funny, charming and optimistic, but with enough good quality dark material to make you believe he means what he’s saying”. – The List

“An outstanding act who delivers an eclectic mix of smut, impressions and politics, all devivered with a confident smile and boundless energy…’ Funny.co.uk

“An amiable and quick witted host” – Chortle

“He made me laugh” – Chris Moyles

He has also warmed up at the BBC for ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ and the ‘Keith Barrett Show’ in addition to hosting the recordings for ‘The World Stands Up’ at The Clapham Grand.

    Radio
His radio appearances include Radio 4′s ‘Four at the Store’ and Radio Ulster’s’ The Blame Game’.

    TV and Film Acting
Having originally trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Hal’s acting career includes roles on TV and film in ‘Shackleton’, ‘Eastenders’, ‘Kavanagh QC’, ‘Out of the Blue’, ‘Touching Evil’ and ‘Bramwell’. On film he has been in ‘Mrs Dalloway’ and ‘The Madness of King George’.

    Live stand up
Hal’s big breakthrough in stand up came with his nomination for the Perrier Newcomer Award at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival for his solo show ‘Hal’, followed by a highly successful run the following year of his second show, ‘To Hal and Back’, which was also performed at the Soho Theatre in London at the end of 2003. At the 2005 Edinburgh Festival, he performed sketches with ‘The Monkey Butlers’ to sell out crowds at the Underbelly Venue. He is a regular performer at all the top UK clubs, including the Comedy Store and Jongleurs, and supported Ardal O’Hanlon and Omid Djalili on their recent nationwide tours.

    International stand up
Internationally, Hal received rave reviews at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in 2004 and at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in 2005. He has done shows throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, and Ireland, and even further afield in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jakarta, Canada, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore, where he appeared at the Jubilee Hall in the world famous Raffles Hotel. He performed at the opening of the first comedy venue in Bali and, earlier this year, did a week of shows to the Armed Forces in the Falkland Islands!

Canadian Law is a top-notch comic who marries a powerful delivery with some deceptively ingenious material. His finest lines demonstrate inventive comic thinking, although it’s an intelligence he wears lightly, with no hint of a ‘look at me, aren’t I clever?’ attitude. In fact his jokey, crowd-pleasing manner easily commands an audience, while hitting them with gags much smarter than they have the right to expect.

“To see Tony Law is to inhale deeps breaths of comedy oxygen”
    The Herald

Canadian comic Tony Law began his stand up career in the UK after winning The 1995 New Act Competition at the Glastonbury Festival. Since then he has firmly established himself as a regular stand-up on the Uk`s comedy circuit with performances at The Comedy Store, Jongleurs and Up the Creek. Tony has started to build an international name for himself, with performances in The Netherlands, Ireland, Canada and South Africa.

August 1999 saw Tony starring in the sell-out Comedy Zone at The Edinburgh Festival. He then went on to perform across the country.

Tony`s TV credits include The Stand Up Show
    (BBC 1)
